Laulukoulu - The Singing School

                                  

The Singing School is situated in the village of Pojanluoma near Ilmajoki and surrounded by fields and forests. The school premises consist of two village school buildings from the early 1900's, bought by Singing School at the turn of the millennium. Besides teaching facilities, the school has rooms for accommodation, a horse stable, a riding field and a spacious yard, which may be used as a camping site during the seminar.

Teachers:

Judit Bàlint - Master of Arts from Pecs University, music pedagogy and choral conducting, Waldorf School Teacher training in Budapest, Werbeck singing diploma from Singing School, Finland. Singing teacher and choral conductor at Singing School.

Risto Suurla- Teacher at Singing School since the School's foundation. Musician, composer, teacher of Antroposophy.

Luc van Kessel- Bachelor of Education, Waldorf School teacher from Hogeschool Helicon, Netherlands. Study of intuitive pedagogy under the tutelage of Pär Ahlbom and study of Werbeck singing under Margit Schermann in Zeist, Netherlands. Currently an advanced student at Singing School.

Holger Arden, Norway - orchestral conductor (Norwegian Academy of Music, Oslo), lecturer and composer.

CHOIR WEEK 2021
SINGING SCHOOL, FINLAND

Course fee:  200€

Singing exercises according to the method developed by
Valborg Werbeck-Svärdström. Folk songs and choir music from various composers.

HOW TO GET THERE:
The nearest town is Seinäjoki, some 19 kilometres from the Singing School. Seinäjoki is located in the west of Finland, 360 kilometres from Helsinki (5 hours by car).

If you let us know what time you arrive to Seinäjoki railvay station, we will put you together with other arrivals and pick you up. Taxis are also available at the station. The taxi fare to the school is approximately 40 euro.

ACCOMODATION:
The school has a limited number of rooms. Beds are available for 20 euro per night per person in rooms of 2-3 persons. There are several comfortable hotels in Seinäjoki Centre. The price range is 75-120 euro for single rooms and 100-140 euro for double rooms, including breakfast. You can book online.

LUNCH: You can have lunch at the school for 13 €/day, including lunch and coffee/tea at breaks. You are also free to use the kitchen. Please let us know if you will join common lunches and if you follow a special diet.

12.00-14.00 Lunch break
14.00-14.45 Singing exercises
14.45-15.00 Coffee break
15.00-16.30 Choir

On the last day, we will finish after lunch.
Potential evening programme (lectures, solo singing) will be discussed later. Private singing lessons available.

Dirigenten - Koret - Rommet

Dirigent og kor- en umulig oppgave?

Som dirigent skal du ikke kun innstudere og lede ditt kor trygt gjennom øvelser og konserter. Du står ofte overfor den vanskelige oppgave å harmonisere klangen så hver gruppe klinger homogent. Kanskje en eller to av sangerne har stemmer som skiller seg ut. Hvordan få dem til å lytte og tilpasse stemmen uten de mister deres særpreg - og blir fornærmet?

Intonasjon som holder seg flytende.

Ofte synker intonasjonen som en stein straks koret er overlatt til seg selv uten støtte i piano eller orkester. Det kan skje under en konsert og det kan være en enkelt sanger, som trekker alle med seg ned. Hva kan du som dirigent gjøre  der og da - og kan du forebygge det med bestemte sangøvelser innen selve konserten?

konserten ?

Du og ditt kor kommer ut for å skulle synge i de mest ulike konsertlokaler. Hvordan mestrer koret en lynrask omstilling i syngemåten, slik at det behersker ethvert lokale like bra? Den rette håndtering av klang og ord - og rett tempo er nøklene til å takle de fleste akustiske hurdler
